تمت الموافقة على إنشاء قسم القانون بجامعة الملك خالد بالأمر السامي رقم ٥١٥٠/م ب وتاريخ ٣/٧/١٤٢٩ ه القاضي بإنشاء كلية مستقلة للأعمال في مدينة أبها تابعة لجامعة الملك خالد. يقدم القسم حالياً برنامجين علميين اثنين وهما برنامج البكالوريوس في القانون وبرنامج الدبلوم العالي للمحاماة، ويسعى مستقبلاً لاستحداث برامج أخرى مثل برنامجي الماجستير والدكتوراه في القانون. يقدم القسم برامجه في المدينة الجامعية بالفرعاء (شطر الطلاب) والمدينة الجامعية بأبها – قريقر (شطر الطالبات).

Preparing outstanding leadership cadres in accordance with international standards, carrying out scientific research.

- Enrichment of legal thought and the development of legal cultural knowledge through the activities of the members of the Department of research and studies and what they mean from specialized seminars and conferences

- Seeking academic, local and international accreditation.
