The following undergraduate degree is available from the Department of Management
Information Systems:
Program Title: Management Information Systems
Years Required: 4 years.
Degree Awarded: B.S .
Administrative Unit: Department of Management Information Systems
Bachelor in Management Information Systems:
The Bachelor in Management Information Systems (MIS) program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to apply business principles and management practices with specialization in management information systems.
Bachelor in Information Systems Management will prepare students to become a high-impact professional ready to help build the digital future. Students pursuing this specialization will learn about designs and enterprise development and applications, management skills for technological organizations, and management decision making.
The academic year is composed of two 15-week regular semesters in the Fall and Spring and an 8-week condensed Summer if required. Each graduating student has to successfully
complete 127 credits. Each semester credit is one 50-minute lecture a week or 2 hours of lab a week.
The vision and mission of the Bachelor Program
The vision of the Bachelor in Management Information Systems
To equip students with a distinctive modern qualification for contributing and meeting the needs of the labor market in the fields of business and information systems with the latest computer knowledge, software, and administrative information.
The mission of the Bachelor in Management Information Systems
To prepare distinguished cadres who have the ability to participate in the competitive labor market, to deal with MIS and its various applications, and to support faculty members for outstanding scientific research.
Program Delivery Modes
The Bachelor in Management Information Systems at King Khalid University is offered
as a full-time on-campus day program. The courses are generally offered between 8:00
am and 6:00 pm. All required courses for the B.S. degree are offered on the King Khalid
University, main campus in a standard face-to-face classroom format.
Most of the courses use Blackboard, an interactive educational software adopted by the
University, to provide lecture notes to students and to evaluate student achievement on various course outcomes. Some of the courses have Lab delivery mode in addition to the traditional Lecture.
Evaluating Student Performance
The primary evaluation of student performance is through the assignment of course grades by the Course Coordinator. The Semester Work consists of homework, assignments, quizzes, continuous assessment examinations and final examination is used by the Course Coordinator to evaluate students’ performance, but for the courses which involve laboratory practical are evaluated on their achievement of the learning outcomes based on laboratory classes, laboratory experiments, written reports and the laboratory final examination.
Success in a course is usually based on the combination of grades awarded for the course work and for the final examination. Each course has a total of 100 points. The grade for the semester work is 50% of the total mark, and the remaining 50% for the grading for the final examination. The pass mark in each course is 60%.
The grading system for King Khalid University is based on a 5.0 Grade Point scale, with a grade of "A+" being equal to 5 points and an "F' being 1. Students with CGPA more than 4.5, will receive Distinguished Student Awards at the end of the semester and will receive honors upon graduation. When grade drops to 2.0, students are given the first warning, and if the warning continues two successive times, their enrollments are canceled.
Attendance and absence are taken for each lecture, and if students are absent more than 25%, they are denied entry to the final exam.
The grading system at King Khalid University is shown in Table 1.1. A student's grade point average is determined by dividing the cumulative point value of all courses attempted by the number of units in the student's semester schedule.

Admissions
Undergraduate Admission
The admission process is 100% electronic, which offers a fair chance to all applicants through standard requirements and conditions. A set of conditions
stipulated by the University Council are applied during the admission period, which is in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education.
For admission in King Khalid University a student is required to fulfil the following requirements;
- The applicant should be a Saudi national or have a Saudi mother or who gets exception from the university internal policies or national interests.
- The applicant should have a certificate of good conduct.
- The applicant should not be dismissed academically or disciplinary from the university or any other Saudi university.
- The applicant obtains a Saudi secondary school certificate, or its equivalent.
- The applicant doesn’t have any study gap more than five years from the date of obtaining a secondary school certificate, or its equivalent. However, the University Council may waive this condition if the applicant has a persuasive explanation.
- The applicant qualifies two entrance exams which consist of an aptitude test, and a subject test administered by the National Assessment Center for Higher Education across the Kingdom.
a) The aptitude test (QIYAS) has two components: Mathematics and Linguistics. The test is aimed at determining the general capabilities of students in aforesaid areas.
b) The subject test (TEHSILI) is an objective type multiple-choice test given in five subjects, i.e., Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The objective of this examination is to evaluate the student's knowledge and ability in English and Science.
- The applicant must satisfy any other requirements specified by the University Council at the time of application.
The university assigns certain weight to the following three components, i.e., secondary school grade (30%), the aptitude test (30%) and subject test scores (40%). A merit list of all applicants is prepared by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration in accord with final percentage scores and desired fields, as well as the number of seats available in every school.
The admissions process includes three stages. In the first stage the students scoring 80% -100% are considered successful for admission. Students having 75% -100% scores are considered for admission in the 2nd stage. The third stage is set according to the available seats.
Applicants are admitted to a college of their preferences on the basis of merit list subject to the availability of seats. Once seats are filled in a particular program, the
admission to that particular program is closed and remaining students have to make their choices from other programs.
Students applying for admission to the Department of Management Information Systems are centrally admitted by the Deanship of Admission and Registration, King Khalid University as stated above. No specific requirement exists for admission into the Bachelor in Management Information Systems program. Students who meets aforesaid requirements and are willing to take Bachelor in Management Information Systems usually get admission into the program based on the availability of seats.
